“I am given support and guidance when I need it, but I am allowed the room to personally learn and grow too. This is a credit to how Sword Apak manages graduate recruitment.”
I am an Analyst Programmer at Sword Apak, and I work within the wholesale finance V6 development team. I am currently developing a new product that focuses on providing custom reporting and data visualization for our wholesale finance systems.
After graduating with a BA Honours in Philosophy at the University of Warwick, I completed a Computer Science Conversion Masters at the University of Bristol. From here I was drawn to Sword Apak, a local company with great career prospects. The job itself played to my strengths of maths and logic, whilst also giving me a chance to learn about something interesting and unfamiliar to me- wholesale finance.
As I was shown around the premises it was immediately obvious that this was a professional company that took their work seriously, however I was taken aback by how relaxed and friendly the work environment was here. It was reassuring to see how passionate the management were about their work, even after being at the company for so long- a very good sign.
Thankfully the work environment wasn’t a sham put on to impress potential recruits; everyone is really friendly and it is a place that I really enjoy working in. The role has been a perfect mix of interesting and challenging without being overwhelming. I am given support and guidance when I need it, but I am allowed the room to personally learn and grow too. This is a credit to how Sword Apak manages graduate recruitment. The wholesale finance side of things has been really interesting and my colleagues have been great in helping me learn and understand more about the business and the requirements of our customers.
